Introduction to the Course

The MSc Facilities Management course is a distance learning course. The program allow flexibility and all sorts of materials are downloadable from internet.

This course will enhance your abilities in the identification and evaluation of appropriate decision-making strategies, and to develop research capability and cognitive skills which enable you to analyse and resolve problems in your profession.

You will be developing your expertise in a sector which remains in a strong position – health and safety, risk management and business continuity will be paramount as facilities managers focus their strategy on maintaining their organization’s core business and meeting legislative requirements.

Course Structure

The course is offered in distance learning mode only. Students will need to have access to email and to the Internet. The course is designed to complement the various competencies required by the Professional bodies. Students must achieve 180 credit points, having completed the following modules, each module worths 20 credit points except dissertation.

The following modules are offered:

1. Facilities Information and Operations Management
2. Commercial and Financial Management
3. Managing the Property Asset
4. Facilities Management Strategy and Procurement
5. Project Management
6. Environment and Maintenance Management
7. Dissertation and Research Skills (60 credits)



  • At least a second class honours degree or equivalent; or
  • Have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the facilities management work environment; or
  • Completion of other qualification e.g. chartered surveyors, hospitality professionals, of full corporate membership or equivalent; and
    Relevant working experience within the industry e.g. engineering field, property management, real estate, health and environmental management which demonstrates that applicants possess knowledge and skills relevant to aspects of facilities management at a senior level; or
  • Any qualification title (e.g. Professional Diploma, Professional Certificate, Advanced Diploma, Advanced Certificate, Diploma, Certificate etc.) at HKQF Level 5 accredited by HKCAAVQ; or equivalent, e.g. professional member of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, The Hong Kong Institute of Architects and The Hong Kong Institute of Housing etc.; and
  • Supported by a reference, either academic or professional


Application Method & Course Fee

This course consists of 7 modules. Students will normally register 2 modules per semester and the standard length of course is two years. Application forms will be downloadable from the website, and AIBE wlll further assist you to proceed online application to the university.
