Structure of AIBE
AIBE is generally governed by two entities, the Council and the Senate.
The Council is the sponsor of AIBE, who represents the Board of Directors of Asian Institute of Built Environment Ltd. The Council is responsible for checking and ensuring that the whole Institute is healthy both legally and financially.
The Senate is the steering committee on academic issues, chaired by Ir Prof Andrew YT Leung. The Senate determines the directions of operation and growth of the whole Institute from an academic point of view, which are executed by Ir Dr Albert TP So and his colleagues.

Ir Dr Albert T P So, BSc(Eng), MPhil, PhD, CEng, FIMechE, FCIBSE, FSOE, FIPlantE, MIET, SMIEEE, MASHRAE, WELL AP, WELL Faculty, WELL Thermal Comfort Concept Advisor, SMCMES, RPE, MHKIE, FHKAAST, IPEA & APEC Engineer, the Director of AIBE, had been with the Department of Building & Construction, City University of Hong Kong for almost 20 years, developing new programmes in building services engineering and facility management from post-secondary to postgraduate levels. He had been a Director of Integrated Solutions of Johnson Controls (Asia) from 2008 to 2010. Currently, he is an Honorary Visiting Professor of the University of Northampton, specializing in elevator engineering. He has published over 300 academic papers and contributed to more than 10 books. Ir Dr So published a book entitled “From Design to Operation: A Green 3-Platium Award Winning High Rise Hotel” with other two founders of AIBE in 2020.

Building Services Engineering
Ir Alan YW Lam, MSc, MHKIE, ACIBSE, MASHRAE, MIMechE, CEng, RPE(MCL), REA, the Course Leader of BSE courses of AIBE, has been teaching in AIBE for more than 10 years. Alan has more than 20 years teaching experience in various tertiary institutions, meanwhile he also took the role of external examiner. Additionally, he has more than 25 years industrial experience and he is specialized in HVAC, system design, energy conservation, low carbon buildings and sustainability. He is also a CIC certified BIM Manager and good at IES. He was the past-president (1998-99) of ASHRAE Hong Kong Chapter.
Ir Albert WF Lin, BEng, MSc, RPE (BSS, ENY), REA, MHKIE, CEng MCIBSE, MASHRAE, MBSOMES, MCIPHE. Albert has been teaching at AIBE since 2017. He has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, sales & marketing and business development in Hong Kong, Macau & Mainland China across business sectors - corporate real estate, hospitality, commercial, residential and industrial. He has much experience in providing integrated solutions for chiller plant efficiency optimization, IEQ improvement, O&M service work especially in the area of HVAC&R. He was the Past President of ASHRAE Hong Kong Chapter (2011-2012).
Dr. Aman CH Wong, BEng, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow, the Principal Lecturer of Building Services Engineering courses of AIBE, received his BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering (First Class) from HKU in 1993. He was awarded the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship and Swire Scholarship and obtained PhD degree from HKU in 1998. He was employed by the CityU as a temporary lecturer in 1998 and pursued his postdoctoral research at HKU with the support of Croucher Foundation Fellowship and Rayson Huang Postdoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Wong has been teaching at AIBE since 2011, his expertise is in Acoustics, Building Physics, Fluid Dynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Intelligent Buildings, Mechanical Services, Plant and Maintenance, and Project Management.
Mr Harvey WC Man, BA, MBA, MA, is the module lecturer of "Financial and Commercial Management" for BSc (Hons) Building Services Engineering at AIBE. With over 12 years of experience teaching subjects of business, management, marketing, economics, and finance, Harvey is proficient in sharing business related knowledge and insights to his students. Since 2015, he has owned a start-up in Hong Kong specializing in seafood and fine food, overseeing its commercial management and financial performance. Additionally, he is also currently a producer of the YouTube Channel "Trial and Error," with more than 500,000 followers. His varied background across various industries has provided Harvey with a strong network and diverse insights into multiple commercial fields.
Ir Kelvin SK Tang, MAGBM, MEng, BEng (Hons) CEng, BEAM, Pro , R.P.E. (BSS, CAI, ENV, ENY, MCL), REA, Qualified Person (WSD), RCx Pro, FHKIE, FHKIESG, FAIIB, FCIBSE, PMHKIQEP, CEMAHK. He has established his career in the Energy (ENY), Environmental (ENV) and Building Services (BS) Industries. Currently, he is a council member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and also was the Past Chairman of HKIE Environmental Division and the Asian Institute of Intelligent Building (AIIB). Ir Tang has been teaching at AIBE for many years and is a core member of the Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) of AIBE BSE courses.
Ir Paul HM Siu, CEng, RPE, MHKIE, MCIBSE, MIPHE, REA received his BEng degree in Civil Engineering at Middlesex Polytechnic and pursued MSc in Building Services at Brunel University in 1986 and 1987 respectively. He has been working in building industrial for thirty-five years and has been teaching Building Services subjects for more than twenty years.
Ir Ricky YC Chan, BSc, MSc, MPhil, MHKIE, MIMechE, MCIBSE, CEng, RPE, has been teaching at AIBE since 2015. He worked in the EMSD from 1984 to 2011. After his retirement, he taught in various higher institutions to share his knowledge and work experience. He is a kind and caring lecturer. Graduates always thank Ricky on the stage of graduation ceremony.
Ir Steven CH Sung, BEng(Hons), MSc(EEE), CEng, MIET, MHKIE(ELL), R.P.E., REW(C&H). He is currently an Engineering Consultant for EMSD - HKSAR and he possessed ten years’ experience in the building services industry for Hong Kong, Mainland China & Mid-East, as electrical consulting engineer on various mission-critical electrical and mechanical projects, from design, construction to operation & maintenance. He was employed by the PolyU as a visiting lecturer in 2022, his expertise is in High Voltage & Low Voltage Electrical Services, Intelligent Building System, Extra Low Voltage System, Smart Monitoring System & Building Management System.
Housing Studies
Mr. Raymond KF Ha, MSc FM, MBA, BBA, BAHS, PGDE(PVE), FRICS, FHKIH, FCIH, RPHM, the Course Leader of BAHS courses of AIBE, has been teaching in property and facility management for more than 15 years. Raymond has more than 25- year working experience in property and facility management and takes up the senior post in various large-scaled property management companies . Besides, he is currently the Specialist (Property Management) of The Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, Assessor for Recognition of Prior Learning Scheme (Property Management) appointed by Vocational Training Council of Hong Kong and the Council member of Hong Kong Institute of Real Estate Administrators.
On the other hand, he was active in the community services including Ex-Panel of advisor on Building Management disputes appointed by the Director of Home Affairs Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Council Member of Hong Kong Institute of Housing and Board Member of Housing Managers Registration Board.
Dr. Gaby CY Kun, EngD, MBA, MSc(Eng), BA(Hons), FRICS, FHKIH, MIET, MIFireE, CMIOSH, CFM, RPHM, RSO, REW(B0&H0), ATD, PMP (Tier 1), is a facilities management, engineering, environment, occupational safety and health, and sustainability training professional who practice engineering management in a pragmatic way. He graduated from City University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a Fellow Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Housing, Chartered Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner, Registered Safety Officer, Certified Facility Manager and Hong Kong licensed PMP (Tier 1). He has worked in management positions in world-renowned telecommunications companies and facility management companies for many years and has well experience in teaching facilities management courses.
Mr. Johnny TM Au, MSc., BA (Hons), FRICS, FCABE, FCIH, FHKIH, CBuildE, RPHM, is an experienced professional in Maintenance, Management, and Consultancy Services for built environments since 1985. His expertise covers acquisition of aged buildings, redevelopment, and land/realty management across Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China. Over the past two decades, Mr. Au has held prominent positions on various government, NGO, and professional bodies. He is a recognized industry leader, holding fellowships in prestigious organizations like RICS, CABE, CIH, and HKIH. He is also a licensed Property Management Practitioner (Tier 1) and Estate Agent (Individual) in Hong Kong. Currently, Mr. Au oversees property and facilities management for a renowned developer in Hong Kong.
Dr. Joseph KK Ho, Ph.D. (Industrial Engineering), MA (Management Systems), Professional Dip. Company secretaryship and admin, ABE Advanced Dip (BM) (HRM) (ITTAH), has ten years’ working experience in the industry, mainly in the logistics, accounting and information systems functions. Currently, Dr. Ho is an independent trainer, teaching at a number of tertiary institutions on both business and housing studies subjects. He graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic, University of Hull and the Hong Kong University. He has published over ten papers in refereed journals on topics related to business and housing studies. His present research interest in Housing Studies is on the subjects of Geographical Imagination and Research Methods for Housing Studies.
Dr. Michael WY Leung, (DBA, MSc., MSSoc., BA) is an experienced lecturer of housing management in City University of Hong Kong for three decades, and also an experienced dissertation supervisors of various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees of Hong Kong and U.K. Universities. He is the Chief Consulting Officer of his own company, who is specialized in a solar energy company and management training.
Dr. Miu-Yee Wong, DBA, MSc, BA (Hon), MRICS, MCABE, CIH CM, RPHM, MHKIH, PFM, CIWFM, the Housing Practitioner External Examiner of AIBE, has been teaching in AIBE since the first cohort of BA (Hons) Housing Studies. Dr. Wong is currently a Lecturer in Construction at the School of Applied Management of University of Westminster. Before that, she was the Senior Lecturer cum Programme Leader (Real Estate and Facilities Management) at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. Seasoned practitioner in Facilities and Property Management industry with experience in higher education teaching. Professional qualifications of Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Building Engineer, Chartered Housing Manager, Registered Professional Housing Manager ... etc.
Mr. Peter LM Shum, MA (P&FM), MBA, BAHS, FCMA, CIHCM, PMP (Tier 1), is a lecturer of BA (Hons) Housing Studies at AIBE since 2023. With over 20 years of experience in property and facility management, he holds a bachelor's degree in Housing Studies from the UK and a master's degree in Property and Facility Management from the USA. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and a Professional Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Real Estate Administrators, and has also served as a Council Member for both organizations.
