Purpose of STEM Foundation Course

This foundation course is specifically designed for adult learners and individuals from non-science backgrounds who are interested in entering the field of building services engineering or exploring STEM-related studies. The course combines two essential modules—Applied Engineering Science and Applied Engineering Mathematics—to provide a solid grounding in the core scientific and mathematical knowledge required for BEng (Hong) Building Services Engineering Level 4.

Through guided learning and assessments, students will gain fundamental understanding in areas such as mechanics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, electrical systems, mathematical modelling, calculus, and statistics. The course is ideal for those seeking to build their confidence, bridge knowledge gaps, and take the first step toward a professional engineering qualification.
