Since its establishment, the Asian Institute of Built Environment (AIBE) has been serving the built environment professions for over fifteen years, and it is now my honour to serve as Principal of this vibrant institute. Over these years, AIBE has grown from a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider in Kowloon Bay into a multi-campus institution headquartered in Yau Ma Tei, offering programmes from undergraduate to doctoral level in built environment disciplines, particularly in building services engineering and housing studies.
AIBE is dedicated to nurturing talents for the advancement of building and construction technology and management, with a view to supporting the infrastructure and building industries in Hong Kong and the wider Asian region. The institute strives to make the best efforts to help our students become competent, recognised professionals through rigorous academic training and strong industry engagement.
Despite being a relatively small private institution, AIBE places the quality of teaching and learning as its highest priority, with all teaching staff holding strong academic and professional qualifications and extensive industry experience. External examiners from partner universities in the United Kingdom, as well as a recent review by the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, have consistently commended our academic and administrative standards as comparable to those of the home institutions.
AIBE actively encourages faculty members to engage in research, publish in academic and professional journals, and bring up-to-date research findings into their lectures and tutorials. An annual record of faculty publications is maintained, reflecting our commitment to a living research culture that continually enriches student learning.
AIBE provides a campus environment where students experience warmth, care and close support from both academic and administrative staff, who maintain friendly, professional relationships with current students and alumni alike. The institute upholds the core values of honesty and professional ethics, expecting all members of the AIBE community to conduct themselves with integrity in study, research and professional practice.
For our working-adult learners, who return to study after demanding days in the workplace, AIBE recognises the importance of pastoral care, accessible communication with staff and timely assistance in addressing academic and personal challenges. Students know that the institute will always endeavour to help resolve their difficulties whenever it is able to do so.
AIBE strongly encourages collaboration among students, fostering peer support, knowledge sharing and teamwork as foundations for lifelong learning and collective growth throughout their professional careers. Through group projects, industry-linked assignments and alumni engagement, students build networks that extend well beyond graduation and into their professional lives.
For busy professionals, commuting convenience is an essential feature: the campuses are located within a short walking distance from nearby MTR stations, which is a significant advantage in a dense city like Hong Kong. This accessibility supports part-time and evening study modes, enabling students to balance work, family and further education more effectively.
With these commitments to academic quality, professional formation, ethical standards, student care, collaboration and convenient access, AIBE warmly welcomes those who are keen to enhance their knowledge, academic qualifications and, ultimately, professional standing through British degree programmes jointly operated with our partner universities.

Established more than 15 years, the Asian Institute of Built Environment (AIBE) has built a distinguished record of excellence in professional education and development within Hong Kong’s built environment sector. Throughout this period, AIBE has maintained a strong commitment to both high-quality CPD offerings and the delivery of collaborative degree courses in partnership with leading universities in UK. These courses range from undergraduate honours degrees to doctoral-level qualifications, with a particular focus on Building Services Engineering, Housing Management and Studies, and other closely related disciplines in construction, engineering, and the built environment.
We recognise that academic success goes hand-in-hand with personal and professional growth, especially for our part-time students balancing work and life commitments. Our comprehensive student support services include dedicated academic mentoring, personal tutoring, career guidance, professional skills workshops, and regular progress reviews to help you overcome challenges and reach your goals. Our students' achievements inspire us all, for instance:
- Building Services Engineering alumni credits the practical focus and supportive lecturers for boosting their career, enabling them to tackle challenges in sustainable design and smart buildings for valuable cultural exchanges.
- Housing Studies alumni describes their transformative journey, gaining in-depth knowledge of housing policy and built environment issues, alongside lifelong friendships and skills that have advanced their professional contributions to community development.
The following are our visions in conducting our educational programmes:-
- High-quality teaching and academic integrity - prioritising through highly qualified faculty, with UK external examiners and the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education consistently affirming that our standards are equivalent to those of our UK partner universities.
- Contribution of research results in the society - incentivising to conduct and publish research in academic journals, with findings integrated into teaching and annual publication lists maintained.
- Supportive and convenient campus environment - offering a warm, caring atmosphere with dedicated staff who build strong relationships with students and alumni; its prime location.
- Encouragement of lifelong study leading to professional achievement - supporting continuous development, helping students progress from academic success to prestigious qualifications, including UK Professional Chartership and registration as Professional Engineer in Hong Kong.
I look forward to welcoming those interested in enhancing their knowledge and professional qualifications through our collaborative courses with esteemed British universities.
With these commitments to academic quality, professional formation, ethical standards, student care, collaboration and convenient access, AIBE warmly welcomes those who are keen to enhance their knowledge, academic qualifications and, ultimately, professional standing through British degree programmes jointly operated with our partner universities.
