Introduction: The energy consumption of buildings contributes 90% power demand in Hong Kong. It is necessary to carry out design of HVAC and lift systems in more efficient manner as the above systems are relatively high energy consumption in the building. In addition, the energy efficient design is definitely required in order to achieve the target of min. 26% carbon emission reduction by 2030 in Hong Kong as referred to the base level in 2005.
Objectives:
  • To understand how to carry out technical calculations and design issues on HVAC system in compliance with BEC2024
  • To understand the requirements of how to carry out Energy Audit of Lift System in building in compliance with latest version of Building Audit Code in Hong Kong.
Contents:
  • A brief introduction of the requirements of HVAC system design in compliance with BEC2024.
  • An introduction of relevant technical calculations of HVAC systems in compliance with BEC2024, such as energy calculations for air side and water side equipment as well as their thermal insulations, etc.
  • A brief introduction to lift and escalator technologies.
  • A quick introduction to the part in the latest version of Building Energy Code related to lifts and escalators.
  • A quick introduction to the part in the latest version of the Energy Audit Code related to lifts and escalators.
